Watts Towers Arts Center Campus
Ongoing Construction Updates (2026–2028)
After years of planning, the long-awaited renovations at the Watts Towers Arts Center Campus are becoming a reality.
Since 2012, the Watts Towers Arts Center Campus (WTACC) of the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs has partnered with the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust (LANLT) on community engagement, site planning, and fundraising efforts.
In 2023, these efforts culminated in a campus renovation design kickoff. Over the past three years, we have worked closely with our landscape architect, Studio Zewde, and other collaborators to develop a comprehensive design for the full campus renovation.
The overall projected construction timeline is:
- Summer 2026: Groundbreaking and start of construction
- Spring 2028: Ribbon-cutting and completion of construction
As we enter this new phase, our programming will be temporarily paused beginning June, 2026 to accommodate construction across the campus.
This includes the Watts Towers Arts Center, the Charles Mingus Youth Arts Center, the Garden Studio Gallery, and guided tours of the Watts Towers.
We will resume programming July, 2026.
